If you're looking for something mellow and easy, go early when the music's smooth and you're more likely to find an empty back corner in which to chill. If you want a scene, come later when the place packs out and the beats pick up. Either way you'll find good beers at a decent price and a funky old house in which to drink them. If you're more into the early vibe, check out DJ Sativa's earlier set (10 - 11:30 pm, or so) on Saturdays.
