Mikoshiby Lisapage: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 So we watched this until around noon, when all the mikoshi disappeared and we all moved back into the Orito's house for lunch. More food, more beer, more sake.... So I should point out here that the men celebrated today by drinking and carrying mikoshi around, and the women celebrated by spending the entire day in the kitchen preparing food for everyone else.  Then at around 1 p.m. it was time for the big event, when the mikoshi come back and fight each other. They all met at a designated intersection in the center of town, and two, or three, or sometimes four mikoshi would go into the center and push against each other and try to knock each other over.
Keep in mind that everyone is completely drunk, and having a difficult time holding these things up to begin with. Then there are all the spectators standing around just waiting to get smacked by a stray mikoshi pole. A completely crazy scene.
