Tokyo

The first time we saw this place, it was brand spanking new. They were still putting in the windows, and were apparently opening in a few hours -- a few hours too late for that beer we were looking for right then.

But we've been back a few times since. The space is like a little cave--dark, backlit bottles at the bar, a few touches of neon. The music is sporadic at best, but never offensively bad. Sometimes it's surprisingly right on, like that drum & bass version of Girl From Ipanema that if someone told you about you'd never believe that it could hit the mood just right like that.

And when a train rolls by (which is often, it's Shibuya) the whole place rumbles and shakes, which is just cool.
